Spitfire Mk Ia from The Battle of Britain

This is the Tamiya Spitfire MkIa. Even though this kit has been available for several years, it is still one of the best kits around!  This model is finished as a machine from 602 Squadron, RAF Tangmere, August 1940. Pilot Sqn/Ldr A. Johnstone, DFC.

The kit was slightly enhanced with the addition of Reheat seat harnesses, Ultracast rudder and elevators, and decals from Aeromaster.

Weathering is a mix of pastel washes and artists oils. Paint chipping was accomplished with a silver Prismaclour pencil crayon.

Antenna is stretched sprue.  The model is painted with the Floquil "Military Classic Colour" enamels, which unfortunately are no longer available. Dark Green and Dark Earth over Sky.

'Twas pure fun!
