Northrop F-5A in
TuAF
This is 1/48 Classic
Airframes F-5A finished with Turkish Air Force markings. This ex-Norwegian
freedom fighter (5-575) was in use between the mid of eighties and nineties by 5th
AFB at Merzifon-Turkey.
The construction
started with cockpit. The resin components are prepared and painted to
“aircraft grey” with Gunze Sangyo acrylics. The seat belts are from my spare
box.
Gunsight does not
exist in the box. So it’s scratctbuilt.
Natural metal
painting was done with Alclad lacquers.

National insignias,
the flag and the numbers (5-575) are from “Turquoise Decals”. For the
stencils I used the box contents. The numbers on the tail (575) are from my
eternal spare box
I had some problem
during installation of windscreen. The fit is not good. It needs some filling.
Similar problems exist on the wing roots and wing tanks. Main wheel well covers
are handmade. Because the parts from the box are “Thick as a brick “
Finally I replaced
the pitot tube and glued opened canopy part.
Happy Modelling
