This is my second attempt at a Prototype and my second model.  This time I chose to scratch build an XP-38.  Having gained a little more knowledge from my first build, I used a 1/32 Trumpeter Lockheed P-38 J/L and backdated to an XP-38 prototype.

I removed the bottom of the engine booms and re-worked it with styrene strip and mounds of putty.  I scratch built the different size of the radiator scoops and and bottom and upper air intakes out of plastic and aluminum sheet "borrowed" from soda cans, which were also used on the top of the engine air intakes.

The wheels are resin from True Details and metal landing gear from Scale Aircraft with brake wire additions by yours truly.

I hope I did not bore all the readers to death or left un-answered questions, emails with questions are always welcome!

Initially when I built this model the props were put on the wrong way, so I corrected this as can be seen in some of the photos in this article.
