United States of America Independence Day

Greetings, This is my second submission and for the subject I have chosen to model Revell's F-15E.  I really wanted to do a modern weapons load, so I chose to model the 12th AF Commanders aircraft circa 2008.  I really enjoyed building this kit.  The model is really good.  I feel like the cockpit has great detail.  The panel lines are all crisp and clean.  There were a few spots that required some sanding, mainly around the nose, wing roots and the space in between the trailing edges of the wings and the leading edges of the tail planes.  The rest feel together.

Painting was done with Model Master and Tamyia acrylics with a few exceptions.  The burner cans and the metal areas surrounding them were painted with Testors Metalizer Aluminum decanted and sprayed through my airbrush, the flat coat is Testors dull coat from the spray can.  I washed the model with artists acrylics using a combination of the colors Nutmeg and Dark Grey.

The Decals came from Afterburner Decals and I must say they were fantastic.  I had no problems with them and there were all in prefect register.  The JADAM, Laser Guided Bombs, and the Targeting Pods all game from the Hasagawa Weapon Set D and the AIM-9X and AIM-120 missiles came from Revell's F/A-18E kit.  Overall it was a great kit and I learned much from building it.

Thank you for looking and thanks to Steve for providing his services and maintaining this great website.
