1/32 Tamiya IAF Spitfire Mk VIII

This is one of the rare IAF Spitfires with nose art apparently handed down by a previous RAF Sqn before she came to 2 Sqn IAF at Kohat in Jan 46. 2 sqn had just returned from Burma where it flew the Hurricane IIc.  The squadron used its Spitfires against belligerent tribals in the Razmak, Palmana and Zhorai areas of the North West frontier province until Jan '47 when it moved to Poona to convert to the Tempest II.  MT 841 was received on 20 Jan '46 along with seven other Spitfires and was found to be decorated with a top less young lady with the inscription “Pauline Mc Wee… Smashing!!” or words to that effect....  This aircraft was lost when Plt Offr Pat Callaghan suffered an oil leak leading to fire and belly landed the machine at Kohat on 29 Jan '47.  It had earlier been force landed successfully when with 4 Sqn IAF near Arkonnam on 13.7.45 and repaired.  The Tamiya kit only offers decals for the much seen RAAF ‘Grey Nurse’.  I used decals from Kits World, UK, which were great.

There's really nothing to say about the kit that’s not already said and I used Vallejo Air paints and an Eduard PSP base and spare equipment in 1/35 scale.

Hope you like it!!
