During
last 10 months, I'd been so involved in a very interesting modeling project, the
beer-carrying Spitfire of Johnnie Johnson. There are several kits and
after-market options for this famous plane, and recently, Eduard also included
it in their luxury royal edition box. But I’d like to build it in a big scale,
so I decided to take a Tamiya Mk.IXc kit with additional items for Beer-fire.

I
used a LL sprue of Tamiya Mk.XIVe kit for e-wing conversion and took beer kegs
from Profimodeller composed of separated resin plates and etched hoops. All
markings for this plane including code letters, serial numbers, and roundels
were painted with custom masking sheets from a Korean Manufacturer,
GravityWings. And I used some resin parts from BarracudaCasts for cockpit
detailing and replaced plastic landing flaps to etched ones from Eduard.
It
took a long time to finish this modeling project because of engine and
cockpit detail-up, but the finished model is worth the effort, I think.
And having a cool beer was just the thing for me on the last day. :-)
Hope
you can enjoy photos and happy modeling.
Lee, Seok Joo
