My favourite scale is normally 1:48 or 1:32, but when I saw Academy's 1:72 KC-97 L, I couldn't resist to make an exception and I started to build this model straight out of the box without any problems.

From the start I was sure to give this bird a nice natural metal finish by plating the model with simple kitchen aluminium foil. Again I was surprised how realistic such a finish looks like even on smaller scale models. But I must confess that I didn't realize that a prop driven aircraft model was much more work than a jet (my special field of interest). But it was worth the extra time I had to spend on this project. There honestly is not much more to say after I had explained my plating technique in previous articles, I'll let the pictures do the talking.

I have taken all my photos on a clear sunny day with some clouds in the sky and I can say it's not that easy to shoot good pictures of an aluminium plated model without reflections. But I highly recommend to shoot model pictures in the open air under good weather conditions with a nice and realistic background.
