I certainly no longer need to write much about the history of the Douglas C 47 "Dakota" in the IAF the C 47 served as a transport aircraft and bomber.  More than 34 were obtained between 1948 and 1960.  The last ones were withdrawn from service in January of 2001.

In the unusual aircraft model scale of 1/87 (known to railroad modellers as HO) the small volume manufacturer Arsenal M has released twelve different versions in its aircraft program “Airpower87”.  The C47 IAF is a 2015 release.

The models are very well made, have sunk engravings and excellent decals. But the blueprint calls for a little more experienced modelers.  Good is always the comparison with original photos to place antennas, Walkways etc.

The build was easy with only the use of a small amount of fillers.  The cockpit area gets a rear wall and a dashboard.  I was astonished how dark rudder and elevators appears on the photos, in original they are the faded Olive Drab, the original color in which the planes were probably delivered.  Some C 47 have these also in Desert Sand.

I painted the model with various mixtures of Vallejo Color, Revell Aqua and MiG Colors.

Enjoy the Photos!
