  Belgium Independence Day

The first Belgian F 16 touched down in Beauvechain on January 26th, 1979. It was a two seater, the FB 01. Ten years later this was commemorated by painting that same aircraft in a special scheme. All the emblems of the BAF units that where using the F 16 where painted on the white tail.

The kit is the Italeri F 16A/B. Painting was done with Model Masters paints and although the dark gey came out a bit to dark, the overall appearance looks fine to me. Decals came from DACO. The units emblems where build up of several decals but came out nice with the use of lots of setting solution. and lots of drying time between each layer. I suspect the kit was a bit short as I had to shorten the white, red and blue stripes.

The base was made out of MDF, painted with a wood stain and a piece of Verlinden Tarmac was glued to on it. Simple setting but it makes the model look like it belongs there.
