1/48 Tamiya F4U-1D Corsair

Hi All,

This is my almost first posting of a model on the web.  This model depicts an aircraft from VF-84 aboard the USS Bunker Hill (CV-17), Feb 1945.  I built this model OOB using the kit decals (which cooperated and conformed well).  The only deviation I made was masking and painting the walkways on the wings and flaps, getting a good matt finish.

There are no stencils and wires on the model for the simple reason I hate to mingle with those things.  The landing light lens I forgot about and noticed after the shots were taken.  The Spit Instructions are part of my next project (oops).

There's really not much more to say about the Tamiya Corsair as it is known for its quality and was discussed extensively.  The only problems I had was self created, really (and trust me, if there is a possibility to get something wrong in a kit - I'll find it).  This said, I read somewhere that this kit is supposed to have the wings in the folded position and I must agree that it is an easier build that way (I use the word "easy" in a loose matter - its still a Tamiya kit).

Now, I want to use this almost first post to thank a few good friends.

Moty Palatshy - the man responsible for the pics here (was dragged from his home after a day of hard work for this).  Filippo Rossetti - who's "airbrushing rules of thumb" I use from the first time I airbrushed.  Rob Radlein - you won't believe what he does with hand brushes.  Shannon wham - who posted a pic of this plane (after waiting to see it for so long that he stopped believing there is a Corsair) on the "Dave Roof challenge" (hence the almost first post) and by doing so made work on this post and not postponing it again and again and Danny Such - a great WWII and armor modeler, we build models together since we met, a long time ago.

Also, I want to thank every one that helped me this passed 3 years, its a longer list than I can post here.

I'll be on active reserve duty by the time this will be part of the daily update and won't be able to access the site, but I'll be happy to hear what you think.
