This is the
1/32nd scale model of the F4E Phantom by Revell. I have finished it in the
markings of the Israeli airforce circa early 1970s. Photos of this plane
were taken at a number of Israeli airshows in the early 1970s and it
participated as a combatant in the 1973 Yom Kippur war. It is marked with
a "69" squadron insignia. This was plane was not a MiG killer,
and was damaged by Syrian AAA during the early days of the war on the Golan
Heights.
The model was built
nearly OOB. Cockpit was definitely improved by a pair of resin
"Martin Baker" seats. The markings on the forward fuselage were
masked and sprayed. The sabreteeth scheme was a "one-off" and
never used in full squadron service.
