Special F-14 Tomcat Sunset Update Sept 2006

Here some photo's of my most recent build kit. It's a F-14A Tomcat in the colors of the VF-31 'Tomcatters' onboard the USS Forrestal in 1985. I build it out of the box. The kit fitted perfectly, so no frustration when building it. It's a pitty that the cockpit details where very poor compaired with the Revell 1/48 F-14.

I painted the kit with Revell's 'email color' light gray that I mixed with some white paint. I didn't used an airbrush but I just brushed it. I accentuated the panel lines with thined black paint to give it a more realistic look. This is the first time I tried this method and i'm very pleased with the result. The accompagnng decals were very good. I used some microset and -sol to let them fit better.

I made a small round Carrier Deck Display Base to place the model in it's ‘naturel habitat’. I scanned a 1/72 Carrier Deck into my computer and printed out a bit larger.
