1/72 Revell Hawker Hurricane

This kit is brilliant. It was a joy from opening the box to applying the last coat of varnish. The detail for a 72'nd kit is excellent and the fit of all parts is superb.

The Hurricane is a graceful enough aircraft, often overshadowed as a modelling subject by the Spitfire. I think the tropical variants look even more purposeful with their intake scoops beneath the nose, and as with all Hurricane variants I think the 'Cane looks great on the ground; with it's Rooster-like legs that make the Spits undercarriage look positively spindly. I was a little disappointed that the kit makes it hard for you to leave the canopy open, as the cockpit detail is really good for a 72'nd kit. Also, the cable between fuselage and tail got a kink in it that I couldn't straighten out, so apologies for that.

This kit was entirely brush painted, with stock decals used and panel lines accentuated using watercolours. All colours were mixed using Revell and Humbrol enamels. By the way... don't mix primary marking colours whilst drunk, as I did. Trying to find the same 3 colour mix out of eighty or so tins one you've run out is tough!

Cheers

Tim
