1/72 Academy P-51D Mustang

Almost an "Out of the Box " build ... The modification made to the kit was cutting out and opening the radiator door (which was molded solid on the kit) and fabricated a new door from thin plastic (food container) sheet. The two sets (one on each sides of the kit) were home made and printed. . . The finish is from automotive "chrome" spray (rattle) can, decanted to make it air-brushable over a gloss black (automotive) lacquer prime coat ... Metal tonal difference was achieved with shavings from graphite lead from pencils, 2B and 5B grades, applied with finger-tip onto the kit... Very slight weathering was done with the same technique but applied with a "lady's eye-brow make-up brush" dragged along the line of flight....

The kit tries to replicate the "Shark of Zambales", the personal aircraft of 5th Fighter Group(Wing) Commander Benito N. Ebuen, then a Major, Philippine Air Force, circa late 1940s to early 1950s.

On starboard side shows the late mark version while the port side shows the early scheme which the aircraft wore on its visit to Taiwan's RoCAF in late 1940s.
