The Bell P 59 was
America's first Jet Aircraft and it first flew on October 2, 1942. The P59 was
found to be underpowered and short ranged, however it did greatly contribute to
the jet engine and jet airframe development in America.

The YP 59 depicted by this
model spent years testing in the Mojave Desert only to be found not fit for
combat.
