This new decal
sheet from Cutting Edge
Modelworks includes markings for two different 1/48 P-40 's.
The first aircraft is a
P-40E-1-CU with the 71Sq, RAAF flown by S/L Dick Cresswell from Goodenough
Island, New Guinea in late 1942. The paint scheme is
Dark Earth and Dark Green camo on the topside and Light Grey on the
underside. The artwork on the left side of the lower engine cowling is 4
flags and on the right side of the engine cowling is another flag. The
artwork for this aircraft has a white decal to go underneath the noseart decal.
On
the side of
the rear fuselage is a red "U" with white outlines. The roundels
are the blue and white roundels of the Australian air force. The prop
spinner is blue and white striped.
The
second aircraft is a P-40N-5-CU
with the 49th FG/7th FS flown by Maj Arland Stanton Squadron Commander Gusap,
New Guinea in early 1944.
