The latest set of
decals from Leading Edge Models provides a
full set of markings in 1/72 scale for the Golden Centennaires Tutor, T-33 &
Proposed CF-104 paint scheme. The Golden Centennaires team was formed for
the celebration of Canada's 100 year centennial in 1967. The air show
display included the 8 aircraft flying with 2 spares, the CF-101/CF-104 duet and
2 Avro 504K team called "Old Gold". The 1967 duet of Rene Serrao
in the CF-104 and Jake Miller in his CF-101 is a flying display now 40 yars ago
that has yet to be matched considering the differences and difficulty of flying
these two aircraft side by side in aerobatics within low level air show
space. Unfortunately both aircraft were left in standard markings.
(A future Leading Edge Models decal sheet in in the works for these aircraft).
This decal set
contains 2 decal sheets, one page of colour side view images and one sheet of
black and white line drawings with text. A very complete page of B&W instructions is included
covering all the tiny special details you'll need to avoid any problems while
applying these decals as well as 2 view drawings. The instructions go into
careful detail about every aspect of the paiting of the model and application of
these special Centennial aircraft. Leading Edge Models
is quite complete in the instructions regarding which paint brand and colour
will work best and be easiest for the modeller building one of these jets.
The
artwork is very well done, especially considering the metalic nature of some of
the stripes and the gold centennial maple leaf logos/artwork. The decals are very complete and beautifully printed.
The printing quality
and colours and registration is all first rate and up to Leading Edge Models
top class quality. This is a very recommended decal sheet for anyone that
likes building the Canadian jets with special paint schemes.
Special thanks to
Dave at Leading Edge Models for the review
samples.
