Eduard has released in ProfiPack form their Lavochkin La-7. This plane gave the Soviets some parity with their German counterparts and was the final WWII mount of their great Ace Ivan Nikitovich Kozhedub. It is a fine looking aircraft and this kit provides for six different markings, all with the vivid markings and cool camouflage that reflected Soviet confidence in the late war period.

It is clear that the plastic itself in this kit is nothing special by today’s standards – it’s just the basic old bits and what Eduard have done is spruce it up with their current high standard of supplements in the form of a decent fret of PE, a set of painting masks and a very nice sheet of decals. The instructions are good too and feature beautiful glossy colour profiles in a very manageable booklet form.. This is all packed into a little box with nice art, colour profiles and strong branding.

Eduard Decals have Marking Options as follows:

  • White 10 V. Zaitsev of 1st GSAK, 1944
  • White 17 V. Lavrinyenkov of 9th GIAP, 1945
  • White 63 of 813th IAP, 215th IAD, 8th VA, 1944/45
  • White 12 F. Kosolapov of 937th IAP/322nd IAD, May 1945
  • White 6 of 2nd Czechoslovak Fighter Regiment 1945 and in 1946

I’ve attached some photos that will show what’s happening with the plastic here – just the essentials and nothing under the cowls. But it’s the PE that give it the extra dimension of detail that’s missing and what you have here looks like a good fast build.

This is a good package and is the obvious choice if you want to do the La-7.
