People's Republic of China National Day 2009

I have always wanted to start a group build for the upcoming 60th National Day of People's Republic of China. That didn't attract any interest here so I built this for ARC instead :)

This is the Trumpeter 1/72 J-10 built out of box. The markings is for the prototype aircraft with my "what if" tail marking - which is the Chinese flag - masked and sprayed on. Tail was painted with Tamiya paint and lots of Gunze clear to make it gloss (still prefer Gunze paint but I didn't have the colours with me).

The kit's fit is quite good, and I used very minimal putty. The colour guide seems to be wrong. The guide suggested Gunze 334 and 337 for the camo but it seems too light for me when compared to the photos and videos of the J-10 prototype. So I used Gunze 331 and 334 (darkened with 331). Looks close enough for me.

Weathering is very light using Testor's Olive Green diluted with mineral spirit. Background of the photo was a custom made Soviet flag. Did not get around to making than Chinese flag.

Happy Celebrations Comrades!
