1/48 Hasegawa Phantom

Yet another 1/48 Hasegawa Phantom, British this time.

Another phantom for the pile of phantoms. Except this one is a British version. Built for the "Not your nation group build".  The Hasegawa Phantoms in 1/48 are my preferred Phantoms. However the British ones are just a little better. Dropped flaps. Better cockpit, meal wheels rubber tires. Sensor dew-hickeys for the intakes. Which for some strange reason are included in Hasegawa's 1/72 releases but not the 1/48. Apart from the British ones of course.

Now, this model was a basket case. I had to use landing gear from the next model in the stash as the ones that came from the kit (in a trade) were started but a little dinged. Missing parts as well. No big, I have 30 some odd others in the stash to become donors.  Another problem was the very edge of the port wing tip was missing. I fixed that with a piece of card and putty. After paint its hardly noticeable. I intended to build this canopy down as I wanted to use Two Mikes British style phantom intakes. Except the seats were missing. No worries, out comes the spares bin.

Next issue. DECALS? Were the heck are my decals????!!!! I know I had them, that's why I wanted this kit. Oh well out comes the spare bin again. Allmark decals instead of the maple leaf zapped red tail I wanted to do. Still ok, at least I could used the shark teeth! More Phantoms to come. One all ready on the table.
