100th Anniversary of Turkish Air Force

After the famous Poliesti Air Raid’s, 11 B-24’s made emergency landings to Turkey and interned together with their crews.  Later 5 of them were recovered and joined the TuAF as heavy bombers (with thanks to Tayyareci).

This kit was a challenge from the beginning till the end.  I re-scribed all the panels. Used Mr. Hobby Interior Color Set’s, Zinc Chromatte Yellow as both base color and interior color, according to the references which I found.  On the other hand, for cockpit,  I used Interior Green.  For pre-shade I chose Vallejo’s Natural Black.  And finally for outside  colors, Model Master’s enamel Green and Humbrols enamel grey used.

Nearly in all building steps some problems occurred.  Clear parts had marks and were fixed with compound and future.  Plastic quality was also terrible and there were serious connection problems especially at the nose and in the bomb bay sections. So I had to re-build the bay doors from Evergreen styrene sheet.  Also the front wheel doors were wrong for early Liberators and had to be modified.

For weathering and washing, I used Mig Pigments, Mig’s Brown and Dark Washes and Tamia sets.  Also for paint chipping in interior parts, I choose one fibre brush. For Turkish markings, get help from Babibi Decals.

Hope you’ll like it....
