This
is my rendition of Academy's fine 1/48th scale F-4B as it would have
appeared configured for MIG CAP while deployed aboard USS Kitty Hawk in
the Tonkin Gulf during 1968. For added detail and accuracy, I slaved in
Aires excellent and very accurate cockpit and afterburner sets intended
for the Hasegawa F-4B. The Martin Baker MK5 seats are scratched up from
various bits.

I
painted uppers in Xtracolor Gull Gray enamel over Tamiya Gloss White acrylic.
Bare metal areas are Alclad II with a coat of Future. Decals are from Furballs
F-4J sheet and the spares box.
This kit has loads
of features and detail. Its modular design with a one piece fuselage, heat
shield/aft keel, separate vertical fin and separate flight controls facilitate
easy painting and assembly. Number two in USMC markings is on the bench and I'm
clearing space for the forthcoming "D".
