This kit was
released in 1993, around the time when AMT/ERTL was producing such basically
very nice kits like the A-20 Havoc/Boston series and the P-40. These are being
re-released now, so I expect the 'Nachtjager' to also reappear, probably
in Italeri livery. This is the same sort of kit-neatly engraved panel lines, not
a great deal of detail, along with a few fit and inaccuracy problems. But
overall, these kits are neat and fun to build.

The kit offers 2
powerplant options for the Nachtjager (i.e. engine nacelles)- the radial BMW 801
or the Jumo 213A-1 in-line. My model represents the Jumo-powered aircraft;
a Ju-88G-6c flown by the Gruppenkommander of II/NJG 5.Also of note: the
flame dampers provided in the kit are not really accurate, and the rudder bottom
ought to be altered a bit so that it can show the rear radar (warning) display which
can be easily scratchbuilt. It also seems that the upward firing cannon of
the G-6c ought to be located immediately aft of the cockpit (Wm. Green
WOTTR).
Overall painting was
done with Testor's ModelMaster RLM 76 and the upper blotching with MM RLM 74.The
Invisi-Clear decals were excellent and were no problem at all. I am basically a
1/48 scale builder and this kit had languished in the stash for about 10
years-so maybe there's hope for me in Tiny Town yet! Attached please find some
PhotoShop images-a small attempt to bring this night prowler back to virtual
life.
