1/48 Tamiya - Motley Mustang

A tribute to Mötley Crüe

This is an attempt to create a tribute to my long time heroes in the rock ´n roll band  MÖTLEY CRÜE.  I started off with a P-51B Mustang from Tamiya, which is a great model I think.  The model itself has a "Looks that could kill" if you know what I mean! The model is built out of the box.  After assembly I painted the model with Tamiya acrylic colors, first a cover/primer in flat black.  The next layer on the upside is a mix of olive drab and chrome silver covered with transparent yellow and that's how the green metallic is done.  The underside is just chrome silver over a layer of Gun metal.  The decals are custom made by a guy in Sweden. THANX!!

I will go on with washing the complete model and a little dry-brushing as well.  There are some parts still to attach, such as the doors to the wheelbays and the radio antenna.

I got the idea to the Motley Mustang when I read the Autobiography "The Dirt -the worlds most notorious rock ´n roll band".  The theme is the bands second album "Shout at the devil" from 1983 and the pentagrams on the sides and wings are on the cover of that album.  The tail number is the release date of Shout at the devil!  The pilot seems to be Mr. Nikki Sixx - the worlds all time rock ´n roll god and also the bass player in Mötley Crüe!
