1/35 MRC AH-1W Super Cobra

This is a Desert Storm era Whiskey overpainted in desert camo and rushed out to the Gulf.  The kit itself is fairly easy to assemble; the engine bay is very two dimensional and the engine oversimplified.  The engine intakes are also wrong as the openings should be much larger.  I detailed the engine bay by adding various size wires and extending the fire suppressor vent to the rear bulkhead.  I fabricated the engine bay front and rear bulkheads from sheet styrene to hide the gap between the rear of the bay and the extended fire suppressor vent.  There's an engine brace embossed on the rear bulkhead of the compartment; it should be up closer so I scratchbuilt that as well.

I drilled out the holes for the chaff dispensers as well as the bottom of the anti collision light; I used very thin copper wire for the intercom wires in the cockpit and used non fuming superglue to attach to the inside of the canopy.  There's 5 pennies in the right front hellfire electronics bay for weighing the nose down; the right skids were drilled out to attach hard wire to support the weight of the kit as I'd mistakenly pushed down and
broke the skid off.  The weathering was done with various colors of chalk and a wash.
