The aircraft:

Hello everybody, here’s my Argentine SUE from the Falklands War during 1982. This version depicts one of the 5 aircraft that France sent to this country in the early 80’s before the war started from a total of 15 SUE’s. The 03 serial aircraft participated with the 02 in various missions where they sank one British warship (HMS Sheffield) and one logistic ship, the Atlantic Conveyor. The main armament that used the SUEs was the Exocet missile, a powerful anti-ship missile. The war configuration was one Exocet beneath the right wing, and one external fuel tank, beneath the left one.

The kit:

The Academy kit comes in a mid-grey plastic trees, with a good canopy. The pieces fit quiet good, and I did a soft sanding job. In general I can say that this is a very good model since I haven’t any special problem during the construction.

The paint:

Attending to all the information I can gather, I decided to use this Humbrol enamels: 125 + few drops of blue on the top, and white on the bottom. The tail tip and the elevators have a light blue trim. In all this process I used airbrush. At the end I sprayed a layer of Humbrol satin barnish.

The decals:

The kit decals comes with many errors, including colors and shapes. So I decided to use the Aerocalcas decal sheet. Before the application, I used Future to prepare the surface and prevent the silvering effect. This set is very good and have all the details of the correct version of the argentine’s SUE. High recommended.

Well, I hope you like my first contribution to ARC  ;)

Regards from CHILE,
