This is Tamiya's
1/72 scale Thunderbolt built as a P47D-28-RA. I only made a few improvements to
the kit, the oil cooler outlet doors and deflectors were replaced with ones made
from 10 thou plasticard, PE seatbelts were added to the cockpit and I drilled
out the gun barrels.

Alclad II was used for the NMF
along with Humbrol enamels for everything else. Weathering was carried out using
chalk pastels. The final varnish coat is Poly Scale satin, after which the
antiglare panel was carefully masked off and sprayed with a light coat of Model
Air matte.
The decals for The Turtle No.10
from the 509th FS, 405th FG are from Aeromaster's Thunderbolts Galore Part VII.
