1/48 Monogram P-40B

--------------------

This is my first article submitted to ARC.  I built this for the Monogram Classics GB, and it recently placed 2nd in our local contest.  This is the repop of the original Monogram P-40B kit.   I used a Black Box resin 'pit modified to fit the Monogram kit and with a little sanding, it actually fit pretty well.

The decals were a hodgepodge of Soviet markings scrounged from my spare sheets.

Weathering was done with a black enamel wash, some dry brushing, and pastel chalks for the exhaust and gun blasts.  Panel line were penciled in.

I tried a new technique to simulate peeling paint.  I sprayed Testors Metallizer as a base coat, applied liquid mask, sprayed the main paint scheme, then used masking tape to peel up the liquid mask.  When that was done, I drybrushed with yellow zinc chromate to simulate wear.  I think it turned out pretty well

I used stretched sprue for the rear gun site, copper wire for the brake lines and small needles for the guns.

Hope you like it.

Enjoy,
