1/48 Academy Mirage IIIR

Hi again. This is the Academy 1/48 Mirage IIIR kit. I started this kit one year ago, but I got bored of it, so I decided to leave it abandoned for a long time, until I decided to have another go at it.  It is not a very good kit to me, it fits OK, but you'll have some problems when you put together the wings with the fuselage.  The Mirage IIIR kit is a recognisance aircraft.

The kit did not offer the clear parts for the nose. So I had to make them with clear acetate, that was a real headache. Also the front and rear wheel wells where empty without detail and a hole in there, so I scratch made them with some styrene sheets and strips.  I was about to throw this model away.

I painted the model with model master paints. For the underside I used Model Master Camouflage Gray and for the camouflage I used RAF Dark Green and the gray is a mix of Navy aggressor gray with Light Ghost Gray.  I used the kit's decals, but they are really bad.

I weathered the model with black and burnt sienna acrylic paints, and with some pastel chalk. Finally I finished the model and now I like it.

Thanks for watching and have a great day!!

Franz
