I built this out-of-the-box model off and on for over 4 months.  I wanted to concentrate on panel scribing and weathering for this model, so bear with me.  I started by spending many hours sanding off all the panel lines and rescribing them using a exacto knife.  My wife wanted to kill me after finding millions of plastic “curly fries” on the desk…

After that was finally finished, I started building the interior of the plane, but decided not to spend too much time on that.  I figured that it was going to be hanging on the ceiling and not very accessible to look into.  Next came the job of the fuselage assembly and seam filling.  I haven’t gotten the science down quite right yet, but it is much better than prior attempts.  I painted the entire plane a combination of dark gull gray and olive drab, standard 1940’s paint schemes.  I then took a mixture of rubbing alcohol and ink to fill in the panel lines, wiping the excess towards the rear of the plane.  I also took soot from the tailpipe of my truck for the exhaust stains, which worked very well.

After a coat of Future, I applied some decals I got off of EBay, cutting them where the covered a panel line, then coated again in future.  Some fishing line and a couple of tacks, and I have another addition to the ceiling of my model room.
