1/48 Hasegawa Ju-87 G-2 Stuka

This was a fairly straightforward build of Hasegawa's G-2 Stuka dive bomber.  A PE color zoom seatbelt set from Eduard was used to step up the detail around the cockpit while the Balkan Cross decals came from Techmod of Poland.  These are thinner and I prefer to substitute box decals when possible or where needed.  The yellow band around the fuselage and on the wing were painted on as well as the white spinner on the nose cone.  The kit decals were both difficult to use and translucent.  All of the two-tone splinter scheme was airbrushed using both Tamiya acrylics and model master enamels.  I used a series of custom masks which I designed according to photos.  An Eduard E-Z Mask set was also utilized to make painting the canopy a breeze.  I believe Eduard to have the best canopy masking sets around.

The markings distinguish this Stuka as one flown by Hans-Ulrich Rudel a German WWII Ace who was shot down in 1945, lost his leg from the knee down, and continued to fly successful combat missions.

The base is custom made from a picture frame painted to resemble the camo look of the Stuka.
