The Typhoon EF-2000
Eurofighter is a single-seat, twin-engine, agile combat aircraft which
will be used in the air-to-air, air-to-ground and tactical reconnaissance
roles. The design of Eurofighter Typhoon is optimised for air dominance
performance with high instantaneous and sustained turn rates, and specific
excess power. Special emphasis has been placed on low wing loading, high
thrust to weight ratio, excellent all round vision and carefree handling.
The use of Stealth technology is incorporated throughout the aircraft’s
basic design.
This new
1/72 decal sheet (also available in 1/48) from Model Alliance Group from
their Premier Plus Range Decals focuses on the new RAF Eurofighter
Typhoons. Although there is a choice of 2 different Typhoons featured on
this decal sheet....there is also a full set of serial numbers
included so you can create any combination you require.
The decals
themselves are beautiful quality and very clearly and crisply printed on the 1/72
sample I have before me (scan below at right does not show the the sharpness
of these decals). Colours look solid and will cover very well, but
the decals also don't appear overly thick. There are enough
stencils provided for 1 complete aircraft. Clear film is minimal and tapers
down nicely to the edge of the decal.
The first
Typhoon is RAF
Eurofighter Typhoon T.1 with 17 (R) Squadron RAF. This 2 seater
aircraft has a paint scheme of Camouflage Grey BS381C:626.
Markings are low key as these are operational markings and they consist of
the usual stencils you'd expect to find on the Typhoon. Specific
markings on this aircraft include pale light blue/pink national insignia
with black wavy lines on a white background fore and aft of the
mid-fuselage roundels. On the tail is a black and white shield with
an armoured hand (Medieval suit of armour) on the centre of the shield and
on the top of the tail are the white code letters AB.

The second
Typhoon is RAF
Eurofighter Typhoon T.1 with 29 (R) Squadron RAF. This 2 seater
aircraft has a paint scheme of Camouflage Grey BS381C:626.
Markings are low key as these are operational markings and they consist of
the usual stencils you'd expect to find on the Typhoon. Specific
markings on this aircraft include pale light blue/pink national insignia
with red X'es on a white background fore and aft of the mid-fuselage
roundels. On the tail is a red bird of prey and a yellow bird of
prey battling in mid-air and on the top of the tail is the red code
letters BR.

These decals are very well done,
and it's good to see operational decals for this exciting new RAF fighter.
Two thumbs up to Graham Green and S. Murray for helping with reference material
for this decal sheet. Special thanks to Model Alliance for sending me this review
sample. You can purchase these decals direct from Model Alliance.
