This decal sheet from
Leading Edge Models
features one of the more interesting
T-33 paint schemes.
This aircraft wore this paint scheme in 1992 at CFB Greenwood (Canadian
Forces Base), Nova Scotia, Canada.
The name given to this aircraft was "Silver Shark".
The paint scheme is the always popular combination of blue and white.
These are custom colours but there are instructions about which colours
to mix to get the desired colour.
It is up to the modeler to figure out the correct proportions of those
colour to get the desired shade of each colour.
The decal sheet contains a off white colour swatch and a blue colour
swatch for you to use as a final guide tro see if you got your colour mixing
correct. The
decals themselves are contained on one decal sheet and include the very mean
looking sharks mouth with eyes and a full set of stencils.
Each decal is numbered and the black and white instruction sheet clearly
shows where to place each decal in the 4 view line drawings. Of
note is the tiny exhaust port on the left rear of the fuselage.
This is applied to the more powerful Canadair versions of the T-33.
A decal is provided for this port or the more advanced modelers can drill
the appropriate hole instead..nice to have a choice.
The black and white instructions include some painting masks to the
demarcation line by the nose gear door by the sharks mouth.
This aircraft has an anti-glare panel in front of the windscreen, which
is provided as a decal, but you always have the option to paint this if you
prefer.
All
in all a very interesting T-33 and as usual the decal quality is excellent.
The printing quality
and colours and registration is all first rate and up to Leading Edge Models
top class quality. This is a very recommended decal sheet for anyone that
wants to build a colourful T-33.
Special thanks to
Dave at Leading Edge Models for the review
samples.
