Air Modeller magazine is a brand new magazine put out by Wise Owl Magazines out of the UK.  This a sister publication to AFV Modeller....which is well known to the Armour Modellers.  I received my copy from Hobby Gryffon (an ARC sponsor) and you can purchase Air Modeller magazine from them.  This is a bi-monthly magazine jam packed with big clear colour photos.  All 66 pages in this issue as well as the front and back cover are FULL COLOUR.  There is a wide variety of article from props to jets and walkaround photos and review articles.  The paper is a sturdy heavy weight and best of all there is NO Advertising.....but the magazine does cost more than other hobby magazines that are weighted down with advertising.  Don't be put off by the price....this well done publication is well worth it.
ARC regular Franck Oudin has the first article featuring his 1/48 Macchi 205 Veltro.  It is his 8 page (23 colour photos....including walkaround photos of the real aircraft).  Franck's article covers the detailing he did to his model including a resin cockpit set.
This particular issue also features a Battle of Britain 1/48 Bf-109E in a crash landed diorama by David Parker  with a member of the home guard standing by.  David's article include 12 pages (40 to 50 colour photos) explaining in great detail how this downed 109 diorama was created.  The model include bullet holes, engine oil stains, crushed body work, chipped paint, bent prop and so much more
For jet modellers, Ricardo Rodriguez has his article on his 1/72 A-6 Intruder.  Ricardo's 8 page (18 colour photos and 10 colour side profiles) tell all about the process to build and weather his expertly crafted A-6.  The work on this is worthy of 1/48 scale....amazing to see in 1/72.
ARC regular Randy Lutz has a 10 page article (28 colour photos) on the construction of his 1/48 Dragon Bachem Ba 349A Natter diorama.  Randy includes history of this aircraft and full description of every stage of construction.
Zdenek Sebesta has a 5 page article (10 colour photos) covering the construction of his 1/4 Propagteam instrument panels.  These are stunning and look exactly like the real thing.
There is also a 7 page (48 colour photos) of walkaround photos of a F4U4 Corsair.  These photos include detail shots of all the classic areas modellers are interested in: cockpit, landing gear, engine, canopy, gun bays, interior detail of wing ammunition bays and more.
Luciano Rodriguez has a 12 page (72 colour photos) article covering the painstaking detail he added to his 1/49 Kawasaki Ki-61.  Luciano was busy improving many areas of this Ki-61 that he built from the Fine Molds kit.  The wash job he did on the cockpit was quite inspiring.
This issue also includes 6 reviews:
  • 1/72 Hasegawa Lancaster kit
  • 1/48 Hasegawa F/A-18F Super Hornet
  • 1/48 Accurate Miniatures SB2U-1 and SB2U-3 Vindicator kits
  • Master Class Building DVD's for the Bf-109G-6
  • 1/32 Trumpeter Me-262A-1a
  • Book review of the Aircraft Monograph 19 - F4U Corsair from AJ Press.

I'm very impressed by the quality of this new publication and the high standard to the model featured.

You can purchase Air Modeller directly from Hobby Gryffon.
