This new decal sheet from Zotz Decals includes markings for two different 1/32 different USN F-8C Crusaders.....including a MiG Killer.

Special thanks goes to Hank "OMAR" van der Lugt, Andrew Desautels and my amigo Fotios Rouch for their help producing this decal sheet.

These decals were designed to fit Paul Fisher's F-8C nose conversion.  Please visit www.fishermodels.com

The 2 aircraft include the hi-viz markings from the Vietnam War era and both of these jets are from the 1968 when the Vietnam war was reaching it's peak.  One jet is from VF-84 and sports a flame job paint scheme around the engine intake.  This is the same sort of flame job you'd expect to see on a Hot Rod at your local car show.  The other jet is from VF-111 Sundowners and features the sundowner setting sun artwork on the rudder and a sharks mouth on the nose around the jet intake.

  • F-8C 146961 on 5-24-68 at NAS Miramar with VF-111.  This was ten days prior to departing on it's MiG killing cruise.  The aircraft was the mount of LT Joe Thompson and had TIGER painted in white on the red tail stripe.  LT Anthony Nargi would be flying her on 98-19-68 when he would use a AIM-9 Sidewinder to down a MiG-21.  This jet features hi-viz markings with a sharks mouth on the nose.

  • F-8C 145558 CAG Bird with VF-84.    This jet features hi-viz markings with a hotrod type flame job on the nose.

The 2 pages of instructions are clear and include 3 color views of each aircraft.  The decals are beautifully printed on 3 decal sheets.  The paint colour codes are called out mostly in FS numbers.  You also get a full set of stencils.....lots of stencils.  One page of instructions includes 4 view line drawings showing the placement for each of the many stencils.

A sharp looking pair of Crusaders is featured on this decal sheet from that time period before lo-viz grey became the norm.

I would like to thank Zotz Decals for providing me with this review sample.
