This latest release from Lifelike Decals features four different very colorful P-51 Mustangs.  This is Part 1 of  a series dealing with the P-51 Mustang from November 1944 in Europe to August of 1945 in Okinawa.

The 4 aircraft all have some sort of noseart and very colorful markings (stripes etc) and a large number of kill markings.

  • P-51D-15-NA "American Beauty - Lovely Lila" flown by Capt. John Voll of the 308FS/31FG, San Severo AB/Italy in late November 1944.  Paint scheme is overall bare metal with a red spinner and wingtips, black anti-glare panel and red diagonal stripes on the tail and yellow stripes on the wings.  This aircraft has a large number of kill markings.

  • P-51D-10-NA "Daddy's Girl" flown by Capt. Raymond Wetmore of the 370FS/359FG, East Wretham, England in February to March 1945.  Paint scheme is overall bare metal with a green spinner and engine cowling, black anti-glare panel and blue rudder.  This aircraft has a large number of kill markings.

  • P-51D-10-NA "Thunder Bird" flown by Capt. Ted Lines of the 335FS/4FG, Debden, England in September to November 1944.  Paint scheme is overall bare metal with a red spinner, black anti-glare panel and partial D-Day stripes and a black stripe on the tail.  This aircraft has a large number of kill markings that are arrow heads hanging from an arrow.

Bill Dunham, Deputy CO of the 348FG, le Shima, Okinawa in August 1945.  Paint scheme is overall bare metal with a red/yellow/blue/black spinner, black anti-glare panel and black stripes on wings and fuselage (similar to D-Day stripes) and a  red/yellow/blue/black stripes on the tail/rudder.  This aircraft has a large number of kill/mission markings.

The quality of these decals is of very good quality.  The 4 decal sheets are clearly printed and in perfect register.  Some decals come in 2 layers with the bottom decal being a white decal to ensure the colorful upper decal remains bright and colorful.  The 4 pages of instruction sheets include 3 view color profiles to assist you with decal placement.  You also get a separate instruction sheet showing 4 view profile line drawings indicating generic stencil placement.

Wow this sheet is loaded with color....these 4 Mustangs are very colorful examples of P-51D's that flew in the final stages of WW2.

I would like to thank Lifelike Decals for providing me with this review sample.
