Trevor Gillis joins us with his first model on ARC.  I'm pleased to show you his sharp looking 1/48 Italeri CP-121 Tracker Low Vis. Trevor used the Belcher Bits Canadian Tracker Decals to make the Canuck version of the Tracker.  I'm quite pleased to see Trevor's Tracker on ARC and I hope to see more of his models on ARC in the future. 

Peter Doll is here with another of his bare metal wonders.  This is his 1/32 Kitty Hawk F-86 D Sabre Dog expertly covered in foil and given the colourful markings for a jet based in Cold War Germany.  Have a close look at the cockpit photo.....Peter got it looking perfect.  Thanks for sharing Peter....I love seeing your work on ARC.

I would like to express my support to the hundreds of innocent people killed and injured in the recent Easter Sunday terrorist bombing in Pakistan.  So many peaceful families were devastated by this bomber.

Shawn "phantom" Weiler is here with a classic RCAF jet from the early Cold War days in Europe.  This is his sharp looking 1/48 Hobby Craft CF-100 Canuck Mk IV finished with Canuck Decals in the markings for RCAF 440 squadron. 

Ole A. Hoel is here with his beautifully done 1/72 Airfix Fairey Firefly 5.  Ole got this model half finished from a friend and carried the project through to a successful end and finished it as a Royal Navy aircraft from the Korean War.  I love the look of this Firefly....it turned out very well indeed.

Easter Monday

WW1 Events - this date in  1916

Paul Coppin has taken the 1/48 Revell Consolidated Catalina Mk1 to a whole new level of perfection.  Paul spent 10 months on this beauty and he got the markings and finish looking perfectly in every way.  His job on the antenna wire was flawless.  I love the look of this RAF Catalina.

Shalom Hen has put some excellent effort into rebuilding this 1/48 Hasegawa F-16A Netz.  This model was originally start by his friend, then had an accident and was completed by Shalom to the gem you see here.  Excellent work Shalom.

Hal Marshman, Sr is here with something completely different today.  This is his 1/6 Dragon German MG-42 machine gun with all the wonderful detail found on the full size gun.  Hal used different colors for the ammo drums to add a further level of realism to his magnificent model.

Dragan Cvetic has done a beautiful job finishing his 1/72 Hasegawa S-3A Viking.  Dragan added seatbelts in the cockpit and finished his Viking in the markings for VS-28 aboard USS Forrestal.  Wonderful work Dragan.

Pakistan Day 

WW1 Events - this date in  1916

Mike Regan starts today with a very special British aircraft.  This is his 1/48 Special Hobby Firely U.8 as it appeared as a target drone at the end of it's service life.  Mike tells the history of these drones and the process to building his model.  This was not an easy kit to build, but Mike was rewarded with a  model that has to be the coolest looking Firefly and one that is built to a very high standard.  

Eugene E. Madara, Esq. has done an exceptionally nice job on his 1/48 Kitty Hawk XF5U-1.  Eugene tells the history of this aircraft as well as the build process.  His rendition of the wooden props is perfect and he explains this technique in his article.  Eugene is the volunteer President of the Connecticut Air & Space Center, in Stratford, Connecticut, USA.

I am saddened by the news of the terrorist attacks in Belgium.  

Belgium is a beautiful country that I have enjoyed visiting.  

My heart goes out to all the people of Belgium at this very difficult time.

Shawn "phantom" Weiler gets things started in a special way today.  These are his 1/48 Hasegawa Top Gun Tomcats #29 and 30 done as 2 of the Tomcats from the movie "Topgun" just at the moment before "Goose" was killed.  It's good to see these jets from that very memorable movie.

Carmel J. Attard has done an amazing job building and detailing his 1/72 Rareplanes Beech Super King Air.  This is a vacuformed kit and Carmel details all that was involved to build this wonderful model.  It is a treat to see this Beech Super King Air on ARC.

Colin Whitehouse has done an exceptional job on his 1/48 Revell Lockheed Ventura.  Colin modified his Ventura and added extra detail and then finished it as a New Zealand aircraft complete with weathering.  This is one very sweet looking Kiwi Ventura.

Eric Morningstar is here with something very different today.  This is his big 1/350 Tamiya I-400 Submarine with Eduard photo etch and all the wonderful detail you expect in this scale.  Eric gave his sub the most amazing weathering job.  I love the look of the base.

Eric Hargett has gone to town on his 1/48 Kinetic Northrop F-5C Freedom Fighter.  Eric used a Wolfpack Cockpit set and Eduard photoetch to improve the cockpit area and then gave it a SEA camo scheme and markings from Caracal Models.  The panel line shading and weathering on Eric's Freedon Fighter are outstanding.

Kees Kuyper is here with 2 of his what-if creations.  These are his 1/72 Fokker F-27 VTOL / Bell Boeing transport and both have very unique and interesting design features as you will read in his article.  I love seeing Kees's latest designs on ARC.

Andreas “Goggo" Gordes joins us from Germany with a very famous Cessna C-337.  This is the 1/48 Testors Cessna C-337 in the markings from the movie Bat 21 which was based on a real life 11 day rescue. This is an excellent looking model and the markings are very cool to see.

Mhmd-Farouk S. Tan joins us from the Philippines 1/72 Italeri F-8 Crusader. Farouk did all the mods to make his Crusader a correct Philippines jet and then finished it in special Philippines markings.  This is one sweet looking Crusader.

Tolga Ülgür joins us with another of his stunning builds.  This is his 1/48 Tamiya P-47D Thunderbolt “Miss Mary Lou”.  Tolga dressed up the cockpit with some Eduard photo etch and then added Ultracast P-47 Thunderbolt Diamond Tread Wheels to dress up the exterior.  Then he completed this gem with his flawless weathering job.

Burt Gustafson has done an excellent job on his 1/48 Kitty Hawk F-94C Starfire.  Burt tells the history of the F-94 including the weapons problems and then goes on to treat you to the details of building this beauty.  There is no doubt about it, Burt does very nice work as you will see with this bare metal finish.

WW1 Events - this date in  1916

Klaasjan Schuuring has done some excellent old school detailing to his 1/32 Revell Focke Wulf FW190 F-8 "Schlächter".  Klaasjan added Eduard photo etch seatbelts and then ed scratchbuilt detail to his 190 to give it a very nice level of detail.  It's a big model and Klaasjan did a wonderful job with the detailing and weathering to bring it to life.  Very nice indeed.

Björn Leichsenring joins us today with his 9th 1/144 scale model on ARC.  This is his 1/144 Pit-Road BAC TSR.2 XR219 with added cockpit detailing and finished to a very high level.  Björn does amazing work and his photos are a special treat to see.  To see more 1/144 scale masterpieces, click the link at the bottom of his article.

WW1 Events - this date in  1916

Richard Spreckley has a very special model here today.  This is his amazing looking 1/48 Airfix EE Lightning F2A (original release).  In a flawless bare metal finish which is doubly impressive when you consider this is his first BMF.  WOW!!!  The weathering is fantastic and the blue paint scheme just looks right from every angle.  Check out the highly detail cockpit he did using Neomega and Eduard parts.   This one is a beauty. 

Shawn "phantom" Weiler has done a first class job on his 1/48 Italeri CH-135 Twin Huey (UH-1N) to created a Twin Huey as used by AETE (Canadian Test Squadron).  Shawn is resourceful and managed to pull the decals for this sharp looking build from a few sources to get the scheme from the 1980's he was after.

Sertaç Bayar is here with his very special looking Turkish Phantom.  This is his 1/32 Revell RF-4E conversion that he made from the Revell F-4F with the help of an RF resin nose.  Sertaç did some amazing work added scratchbuilt detail to the cockpit along with travel and ACMI pods.  I love the camo scheme Sertaç chose for his big Turkish Phantom.

Jens Gerber did an excellent job on the winter camo on his 1/48 ICM Polikarpow Po 2 / U 2 Abulanz.  The rigging on this WW2 air ambulance is perfect.  I love the subtle shading on the winter camo.

WW1 Events - this date in  1916

Tolga Ülgür has done the most amazing job detailing and painting and weathering his 1/48 Hasegawa P-40N Warhawk.  Tolga detailed the cockpit with a photo etch instrument panel and a resin seat then added resin wheels and exhaust to give his P-40 stunning detail.  He then topped it off with a vacuformed canopy to show off that wonderful cockpit detail before giving his Warhawk a VERY realistic weathering job.  Enjoy all his photos....this P-40 is first class.

Duncan has done a lovely job building and finishing his has done a great job on his 1/87 Roco EC135 Dutch Police Helicopter.  Duncan chose a very attractive blue paint scheme.....this is a tiny chopper, but the quality of the work makes it look like a much bigger model.  Excellent work Duncan.

Pablo Daniel Wamboldt has done an extra special job on his 1/48 ICM Yak-7B.  Pablo  chose the aircraft of a famous Ace at the Stalingrad front and finished off his Yak with just the perfect amount of weathering.

S K Loh is a master modeller when it comes to 1/144 models and this 1/144 Academy F-16C in Hellenic markings is a stunning example.  S.K. converted the F-16A to a C with scratchbuilding and then finished this beautifully weathered bird with custom made anniversary markings.  It doesn't get much sweeter than this..

Benner has added some special aftermarket detail items to build his Gulf War 1/48 Academy EF-111A Raven.  Benner added a resin cockpit and opened the canopy to show off all that wonderful cockpit details and then added the Paragon flaps and slats plus resin exhausts and metal landing gear and more.  Benner's shaded panel lines look fantastic.

Jens Gerber is here with something very cool today.  This is his 1/48 ICM Polikarpow Po 2 Ambulanz Version Nr. 2 with the pods of the wings for transporting injured patients.  Jens did an excellent job rigging his biplane.  This is a very cool aircraft Jens.

Rod Bettencourt is here with his very realistic looking 1/48 Tamiya A-1 Skyraider.  Rod added a resin seat to dress up the cockpit and then gave his Skyraider a flawless weathering job including the exhaust and engine fluid stains.  Rod then finished it with a weapons load to show the true purpose of this much loved CAS aircraft.

Greg Kerry is here with a very creative in-flight diorama of his 1/72 Academy Hawker Tempest downing a V-1.  It's a very cool scene and this trick for photographing clouds is genius....read his article to learn his trick.  Sweet work Greg...very effective.
